Another seasonally warm day is on tap across the region today. However, a slight easterly wind will look to keep temperatures a couple of degrees cooler than yesterday, when we reached 90s. The Upper 80s seem like a good bet for most everyone today, with the threat of isolated PM storms.
We have seen a few showers and locally heavy rains move through parts of the region early this morning. We should see those break up by mid-morning, with sunshine peeking out. Our easterly flow may allow for isolated storm activity anytime after lunch as temperatures rise into the upper 80s.
Our Futurecast model shows that today’s storm threat, like the last few days, does not appear to be widespread or high-end. Once again, it looks like we are talking about quick, garden-variety storms that may have the ability to put down a quick downpour with some thunder and lightning.
The severe risk is quite low today. However, the chance of seeing one of these isolated storms does increase the further east you head, today. The highest chances of seeing these storms, around 40%, exist along the Bay and on the Eastern Shore
Looking ahead to the weekend, we will have warm temperatures that stick with us both days, but temperatures should avoid getting into the 90s. We will have spotty afternoon thunderstorms for both days. Sunday houses a better chance of storms, a 40% chance, than Saturday, a 20-30% chance. With that said, though, both days do not look like washouts. While I would not cancel any outdoor plans for the weekend, I would stay weather aware!
Temperatures will look to warm up as we head into next week with multiple days looking to get into the middle to upper 90s! Storm chances remain in place on Monday, as well.
