Friday’s Forecast: Warmth Gives Way to Freezing Temps

Brought to you by R.E. Graves Heating & Air Conditioning

Today is going to be a very topsy-turvy weather day across the region. Many spots are starting this morning off in the upper 50s and 60s, which you can see down below. We will keep these warm temperatures through much of the morning before the cold front arrives. Once the cold front pushes through around lunchtime, we will see temperatures dramatically drop throughout the afternoon and evening. This means that today’s high temperatures are likely to be recorded right now!

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that we will see rain redevelop across much of the region as we throughout this morning. Showers should become widespread by mid-morning. Periods of moderate to heavy rain are possible by lunchtime as the cold front itself pushes through the area. That dramatic drop in temperature will likely come with a heavy downpour and gusty winds. We will begin to see things dry out this evening ad cold air filters in.

Winter Weather Advisories remain in place this morning along the Maryland/Pennsylvania state line. This is where this morning’s rain is the most likely to transition over to a period of freezing rain and/or sleet, and may accumulate up to a tenth of an inch. The precipitation should be clearing out of our local area before the freezing cold arrives, sparing us from seeing much ice. However, we could see residual slick spots develop as a result of all of the rain we’ll be seeing. Stay aware this evening, and tomorrow morning!
