Here’s a look at some reported snow totals from overnight (via the National Weather Services and social media reports). Many sports saw an inch or two overnight, which does fall in the lower part of my forecast ranges for many spots. The snowfall forecast didn’t end doing as bad as I had feared.
The highest totals were once again across northern areas, averaging more like 2-3″ with southern spots averaging a coating-2″. This is just a general map, so there are such to be some small things off and you may have seen slightly higher/lower totals in your backyard.
I’d probably grade this forecast a B-. The ranges are *technically* right, but the upper ends of the ranges we’re clearly too high & impacts weren’t as bad as a result. But this wasn’t a bad forecast by any stretch. All things considered, I’m happy with how this worked out.
The purpose of this post isn’t to fish for compliments or to receive pity
1) Show you generally how much the area got.
2) Give an analytical look at my forecast, see what was good, & what could be improved upon next time.
I’m going to go make some lunch (I’m thinking chicken parm sounds good) and then get a nap! This has been a long week, but nothing brings me as much joy as forecasting the weather. I’m blessed to have developed a career doing what I love
