Monday’s Forecast: Warm & Windy with Rain Late

We are off to a mild start by early December standards! Many of you are waking up to temperatures in the 40s this morning. We will be heading into the 60s by this afternoon as warm air from the south surges northward! Bayside communities will likely only top in the middle 60s, while areas further inland may get into the upper 60s and lower 70s! These highs would be between 12-17° above average for this time of the year.

Today’s warm temperatures will be brought to you by gusty southerly winds. These winds will help to push up the warm air from the south. We could see winds gust between 35-40mph at times! Shown below are potential wind gusts around lunchtime, and there are pretty elevated! These gusts winds will stick around through the evening, and into the night. Definitely make sure that any light objects outside are secured!

We will see rain showers become possible this evening as a cold front pushes through the region. We will likely see showers near the region after sunset tonight. Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that the best time for rain would be between 4-10pm. In addition to scattered showers, we may even see a narrow stripe of gusty storms work through the region. We likely wouldn’t be talking about severe storms, but wind gusts up to 50mph could be possible as it pushes through.

Behind this front, we will turn much colder for Tuesday. This many set up the stage for some winter weather on Wednesday. Yesterday, I increased the Snow Index to Level 2, as we continue to watch for the potential. I will give an update on this potential later today, so stay tuned! I am looking over all of the latest information that came in overnight to bring you a holistic look at the forecast
