We have a rather quiet and seasonal day on tap for much of the region! This comes after Pax River NAS picked up an inch of rain yesterday with temperatures that were stuck in the 40s. Today should be a few degrees warmer than yesterday, but may still offer a bit of a chill to the air.
Temperatures this morning are in the 30s for most, and we will see temps gradually climb throughout the day. We will have a light northeasterly wind present for much of the day. Any easterly component to the wind brings a marine influence onshore, which should prohibit our temperatures from rising too much.
We will have a decent amount of cloud cover today, but we should see some peeks of sunshine by this afternoon. The warmest temperatures will likely be found inland this afternoon, closer to I-95. Temperatures will gradually fall off after sunset.
Looking ahead, we will look to keep the quiet weather around for tomorrow, but we should be a few degrees warmer than today. Our next storm system will look to impact the region on Saturday. Right now, rain and wind look to be the primary concerns with this system.
Temperatures will look to fall throughout the day on Saturday. This prospect has prompted some forecasters to introduce the idea of snow for Saturday. As things stand right now, I am very skeptical about snow chances on Saturday. I think the moderate rain and elevated winds will be the bigger story. I will have more details on this system later today.
Behind the system on Saturday, we see a quick shot of colder air settle in for Sunday. However, temperatures look to rebound quickly for next week. At one point, next week looked to be Winter’s last gasp. However, we have seen things turn around, and above-average temperatures are favored over the 6-10 day period now. As we march closer to Spring, it remains to be seen if we will see indeed see one last round of Winter.
