We are off to a frigid start this morning with temperatures across the region bottoming out in the teens overnight! Temperatures will rebound a bit this afternoon, as we should get above freezing. However, any real warm-ups will be delayed until next week. Thankfully, the wind will not be a huge player this morning.
Temperatures will steadily climb today before maxing out during the mid-afternoon. Southern spots have the best chances of getting into the upper 30s. We will see the cloud cover increase late this evening, and into the overnight hours. However, I think any precipitation chances here in Southern MD will hold off until late tomorrow.
In terms of our potential winter storm– Winter Storm Watches were issued overnight for the Northern Neck and Delmarva. This morning on the alerts map, it looks like they skip right over Southern MD. I do think that additional alerts are coming for our region, though. This demonstrates both the tight gradient in the impacts that will be focused east, and how Southern MD sits right on the edge!
I will have an updated forecast published sometime this afternoon or evening. Until then, I encourage you to check out the First Call forecast I published last night. This article goes over the setup for the system, potential impacts, the variables at play, and of course the snow map! I think it’s definitely worth giving it a read!
