Another warm and humid day is on tap across the region as tropical air begins to surge northward. While temperatures will likely only max out in the middle to upper 80s, dew points in the middle 70s will make it feel quite oppressive outside. Rain chances will also begin to increase this evening as the remnants of Ida continue to move closer. The highest rain chances will be out west to start, but this rain threat will overspread much of our region.
Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows today’s rain threat quite well. We’ll likely start today mainly cloudy with rain shower out across the mountains. Those rain showers begin to spread eastward after lunchtime and may look to move in Southern MD around sunset this evening. I am not expecting any severe weather today, but locally heavy rain with a rumble or two of thunder are certainly possible.
We are still tracking the threat of heavy rain by mid-week as the remnants of Ida move across the Mid-Atlantic. You can find my latest update from yesterday afternoon by clicking HERE.
