Wednesday’s Forecast: AM Rain, Then Spring Like Warmth

Brought to you by Row House

Our roller coaster weather continues today as temperatures surge into the 70s region wide! This is likely to be the warmest day of the year so far for many communities. However, this warmth will not stick around. Temperatures will be cut nearly in half by tomorrow. So get out and enjoy the warm weather while you can!

You will want to have the umbrella handy though as you walk out of the door. We have areas of rain moving through the region this region. Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast (shown above) shows that periods of rain are likely throughout the morning before coming to an end by midday.

We are likely to see some clearing by lunchtime, which will allow temperatures to surge well into the 70s. A few peeks of sunshine this afternoon should help us to achieve those warm numbers. However, temperatures will begin to fall off after sunset, as cooler air returns.

We will see gusty winds accompany the warmth today as well. Winds could gust as high as 20-30mph at times, with sustained winds of 10-20mph. These winds will initially help bring the warm air northward and then bring the cold air further south tonight.

The reinforcing shot of cold air tonight will set up a rather interesting weather situation for tomorrow. A storm system will pass to our northwest, with a decent slug of moisture. With cold air in place, we could see some sleet tomorrow before a cold rain takes over by the evening.

Check out yesterday’s update for more details on this week’s weather whiplash and my preliminary thoughts on tomorrow’s weather setup. I will have an update late today, so stay tuned!
