Wednesday’s Forecast: Fog Leads to Warmer Temps

Brought to you by All in One Tag & Title

Our warming trend this week continues today as temperatures continue to warm, thanks to southerly winds. Highs this afternoon are likely to get into the upper 40s for many spots. The more sunshine we see this afternoon, the warmer we’ll get. With enough sunshine, it is possible that several communities make it into the 50s!

However, those southerly winds are leading to a bit of fog development this morning. Visibilities are reduced this morning across the region, especially in rural zones. Our temperatures this morning are also right around freezing, which is leading to reports of freezing fog.

Freezing fog is a fog that can lead to minor ice accumulation on surfaces that are below freezing. This can lead to some slick spots, along with reduced visibilities. You will want to take it slow this morning as you head out. The fog will begin to break up by mid-morning.

Temperatures will gradually rise today as warmer works northward. While we are starting the morning in the 20s and low 30s, many spots will be into the 40s by lunchtime. We will also have passing clouds around, which should increase overnight tonight. However, the additional cloud cover will limit the amount of cooling we see tonight.

We are still tracking the chance for rain on Thursday, which may end as a brief period of freezing rain or sleet on Friday. I still view the chances of this happening as low, especially south of DC. I will be looking over the latest data throughout the day, and relay updates as needed. I do encourage you to check out yesterday’s report on this threat for the full scoop!
