About John Bordash

I was born in Huntingtown, MD and moved down Route 4 to Lusby, MD where I was raised. I grew up watching NBC 4 as Bob Ryan and Tom Kierein would forecast some of the most notorious weather events of the early 2000s. The event that changed my life was Hurricane Katrina in 2005. I was in 4th grade at Appeal Elementary School when Katrina devastated New Orleans, LA. Watching the devastation that storm caused lead me to wonder how such storms form. From that point, I started exclusively watching The Weather Channel 24/7. My mother can tell you that getting me from in front of the TV during the Tropical Update was quite the struggle. I would start tracking storms on maps that I hand drew and hung up all over the house. My interest in the weather was budding fast.

I grew up in Southern Maryland all of my life. Getting older, I realized that the TV stations typically “forgot” about us in SoMd. Once I reached high school, I started doing my own personal weather forecasts. My friends and family would get annoyed by my insistent reports. It was on June 20, 2013 I created JB Weather as a place to put all of my information. I graduated from Patuxent High School in the Spring of 2014 as a completer of the Teacher Academy of Maryland program. In the years following, JB Weather continued to grow and grow. I thought it was a big deal when JB Weather hit 1,000 followers. Now JB Weather has well over 30,000!

I moved to Harrisburg, PA in November 2016 to begin my college journey. In December 2022, I graduated from Shippensburg University with my degree in Middle Level Education with a concentration in Social Studies. I am currently a fulltime Middle School teacher in south-central Pennsylvania!

I have been forecasting the weather professionally for over 10 years now. I have forecasted crippling blizzards, destructive tornadoes in Southern MD, and devasting hurricanes. JB Weather became known for providing School Odds forecasts when these dangerous weather events threaten. Our community knows that when impactful storms threaten, I will be right there covering it so that our community can be prepared.

I am blessed that God has given me the opportunities to utilize the gifts He gave me. I am blessed to have a family and a partner that supports me. They will tell you about the countless sleepless nights that featured me glued to the computer to cover the weather. I am blessed to have mentors, like my high school teacher Wrenn Heisler, to push me to be the best person I can be. I am blessed to have a community that trusts me to deliver weather forecasts. Running JB Weather will always be the highlight of my life. I look forward to many more years at the helm of JB Weather.
