BREAKING: Wind Advisory Issued for Saturday

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

The National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia has issued a Wind Advisory for much of our region ahead of a potent system that is poised to impact the region tomorrow. Here are the local details:

Wind Advisory from 7am-10pm Saturday for:

  • Lancaster (VA)
  • Richmond (VA)
  • Northumberland (VA)
  • Westmoreland (VA)

For gusts up to 50mph at times.

Wind Advisory from 8am Saturday-1am Sunday for:

  • Calvert (MD)
  • St. Mary’s (MD)
  • King George (VA)

For gusts up to 55mph at times.

Wind Advisory from 6am Saturday-1am Sunday for:

  • Anne Arundel (MD)
  • Charles (VA)
  • Prince George’s (MD)

For gusts up to 55mph at times.

Behind the cold front tomorrow morning, we will see winds pick up out of the northwest, which will help to usher in cold air. Winds will likely be sustained at 20-30mph, with wind gusts as high as 40-50mph at times. The highest gusts will likely be found along the ridge tops out west and along the coast.

These gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Saturday is likely to be a high-impact weather day! Rain, storms, winds, snow, and a dramatic temperature drop will all affect the region as a potent storm system moves through. Make sure you check out my updated forecast, linked above, for the latest details on what you can expect!
