Thursday’s Forecast: Off and On Showers Likely

Brought to you by Calvert Title Company

We have been in the midst of great weather over the last few days with temperatures reaching into the 70s with only a few passing clouds the last few days. That string of nice weather will be put on pause for today though. Occasional rain showers are likely with temperatures that will be a touch cooler this afternoon, but not “cool” by any standard. Many areas will still get above our seasonal average of 56°.

William Richmond Inc. Radar shows how rain showers have already begun moving northward this morning.

Rain looks to be the most likely between now and early afternoon as the parent area of low-pressure slides offshore. We will see gradual drying & clearing as head towards sunset, though. Your evening commute could still feature some showers, so I would take the umbrella with you.

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows just how scattered in nature the rain will be throughout the day. It will not be raining everywhere all of the time, and the rain should not be overly heavy. The rain showers will clear out this evening, so any evening plans you may have should be fine, but you will want to keep an eye on the radar.

There will be a risk to hear a rumble or two of thunder this afternoon with a localized downpour also being possible. Right now, the greatest threat of that looks to be to our south, across the lower Bay and southern Virginia. We’ll see if any of those downpours work their way northward, and clip our southernmost communities today. Severe weather, though, is not expected.

We will see the rain clear out this evening, and set our region up for some fantastic weather to close out the week on Friday and Saturday! Granted, we may have some showers or storms to contend with by Saturday afternoon as a cold front sweeps through. More details to come on that potential in the coming days.
