The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for the Mid-Atlantic, including:
- Anne Arundel (MD)
- Calvert (MD)
- Charles (MD)
- King George (VA)
- Prince George’s (MD)
- St. Mary’s (MD)
This watch is in effect until 10PM Thursday. The primary threats this evening are:
- Potential for a few tornadoes
- Damaging wind gusts to 70 mph
- Hail up to 1″ in diameter
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a TORNADO WATCH for the Mid-Atlantic, including:
- Lancaster (VA)
- Richmond (VA)
- Northumberland (VA)
- Westmoreland (VA)
This watch is in effect until 8PM Thursday. The primary threats this evening are:
- Potential for a few tornadoes
- Damaging wind gusts to 70 mph
- Hail up to 1″ in diameter
SUMMARY: Thunderstorms will continue to increase in coverage and intensity this afternoon and spread across the watch area. The strongest cells and lines will pose a risk of damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
