After a cool weekend, we finally saw temperatures get back near our seasonal averages yesterday, which now sit in the middle 60s! We will look to keep our warm streak going today as many spots look poised to warm into the 70s this afternoon. Thankfully, our winds will not have an easterly component today, saving most from the dreaded marine layer influence, like we saw yesterday!
This morning we are seeing some showers across West Virginia that are sliding eastward. These will look to make the trip over the mountains and potentially arrive in our area over the next couple of hours. Thankfully, these showers are not overly heavy.
The best chance of showers this morning would be from 8am-12pm before we see some decent clearing around lunchtime. With increasing amounts of sunshine, many of us will see temperatures surge this afternoon! Clouds will look to increase around sunset with another spotty shower chance between sunset and midnight. Temperatures will not be quick to fall tonight, either.
Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast does a great job of depicting our two rain chances today. As you can see, neither one of them look overly concerning. This first one is likely to bring just a quick bout of rain, which may require you to have the umbrellas handy. The evening wave of rain is also likely to be quick-hitting and is not nearly as widespread. We will get several dry hours in between, though!
If we see the morning showers work out fast enough, and we see even more sunshine this afternoon, then several spots could make a run for 80 this afternoon! The best spots to see that happening would be across Central VA.
Temperatures will continue to warm as we throughout much of this week! Many spots will look to warm into the 80s by tomorrow, and likely stay in the 80s on Thursday! Granted, Thursday will look to offer the chance of late-day thunderstorms as a cold front works through.
