We have traded the warmth and humidity in for cooler temperatures and rain! Many spots today will see temperatures that are significantly cooler than they were yesterday. This is thanks to an area of low pressure offshore that continues to spin, and bring rain chances. This low-pressure area will be slow to move, which will help keep temperatures in the 70s across the region today.
We saw a decent amount of rain move through the region yesterday! Many spots saw up to an inch of rain with some localized spots seeing amounts up to 2″ or more. There were twomain corridors where we saw those higher totals. The first was along a line from southern Calvert through southern St. Mary’s Counties thanks to several rounds of rain. The other was in western Charles County were some spots in Pisgah and Nanjemoy saw up to 3″ of rain!
Thankfully, we will not have to deal with rainfall like that today! We do have some scattered showers out there right now, though, and these showers will continue throughout the day. We should see the rain begin to break up this afternoon, and we may even be able to get in a few peeks of sunshine before sunset. But the rain and cloud cover will keep temperatures 15-20 degrees below average today!
Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that rain chances will be the highest along and east of I-95 today as our low-pressure pushes offshore. Thankfully, the threats of severe weather and flooding are remarkably lower today! With that said, a brief heavier shower is possible. Most spots in Southern Maryland should see additional rain totals of less than half an inch before we clear out this evening.
