Monday’s Forecast: Scattered Showers with a Cold Front

Brought to you by SouthernMaryland SportsCards

We have a damp weather day on tap across the region to kick off the workweek. Temperatures likely max out in the lower to middle 80s before a cold front swings through today. That cold front will bring scattered showers and potentially 1 or 2 embedded thunderstorms.

Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast simulated radar

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that the rain will initially be focused out to our west this morning. As the front slowly slides to the east, we will see these showers begin to move closer to our region.

Rain appears the most likely during the afternoon and evening hours across Southern Maryland. Futurecast does show the potential for 1 or 2 embedded thunderstorms, but the threat of severe storms is quite low.

Most spots should see less than half an inch of rain. However, those embedded thunderstorms could put down a quick inch of rain if you get caught under them. But these thunderstorms should be more isolated, not widespread. The rain should begin to move out around sunset.

All-in-all, today will be a good day to keep the umbrella handy. We have a mild start this morning, and will should see our temperatures rise into the 80s before the rain moves in. Rain looks the most likely between 1-9pm. 1 or 2 thunderstorms are possible, but they should stay below severe criteria.
