Friday’s Forecast: Warm & Humid w/ PM Storms?

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

Yesterday was another hot one with temperatures getting back above 90°! Yesterday marked the third day in a row of 90s, which means that we are in an official heatwave. Today’s highs are likely to get back into the 90s again, extending this stretch of late-August heat!

We are off to a mild but clear start this morning. We will see temperatures quickly rise throughout the morning, making it into the upper 80s by lunchtime. 90s are likely this afternoon with noticeable humidity levels, which will push heat indices into the middle to upper 90s.

With the high humidity levels this afternoon, we will have some ingredients for spotty storms as head towards the evening hours. Futurecast shows that any storms this afternoon and evening are likely to be hit and miss, and will not likely be overly strong. Any one location has about a 20-30% chance of rain after 4pm, so you will want to stay weather aware!

Again, any storms this afternoon or evening are not likely to be severe. The Storm Prediction Center does not have our region placed under any organized severe threat for today. Some storms may contain gusts up to 40-50mph and/or locally heavy rain, but nothing too out of the ordinary for afternoon summertime storms.
