The weather this weekend reminded us that we are still very much in the midst of Summer with hot and humid conditions. And, we are going to see that continue through early this week! We are off to a humid start this morning with temps looking to max out in the lower 90s. We will also see an evening and overnight storm chance across the region.
Futurecast shows that we will have quiet weather around through the early-to-mid afternoon hours. Then, the first chance of rain will cam just after the evening rush hour with a warm front that will move through. We could see a few storms fire up and move through with it.
Then, we are likely to see another round of rain and storms late tonight as another boundary moves through. This highlights the risk of some overnight thunderboomers that could wake you up!
Much of the Mid-Atlantic has been placed under a Level 2 “Elevated Risk” of severe weather for this afternoon and tonight. Again, we will see two rounds of potential storminess. The first is between 5-10PM with the warm front, and then again between 1-4AM with the secondary boundary.
All modes of severe weather will be possible today. We could see 1 or 2 storms try to rotate, especially with the passage of the warm front this evening. The best chance of that will be across the Baltimore area, but we will need to monitor that as well. Any storm will also have the ability to produce damaging wind gusts and some hail. The highest threat does appear to be late today into tonight! Stay weather aware!
