Tuesday’s Forecast: Lingering Impacts From Snow & Ice

Brought to you by Cedar Point Federal Credit Union

Well folks, it has finally happened! Our region picked up its first inch of snow last night for the first time in 729 days. Today, we will see those impacts linger throughout the day though, as periods of leftover snow and ice move with falling temps and gusty winds!

Many areas in Southern MD picked up a general 1-2″ of snow yesterday evening. We saw more fall to the north, across central Maryland. 2-4″ of snow fell there with numerous reports of 4″+ reports just northwest of I-95.

Winter Weather Alerts remain in place through 10AM this morning, thanks to the leftover snow and ice. In purple are the Advisories where lower snow amounts have fallen, but ice is starting to take hold there. In pink are the Warnings where several inches of snow have fallen.

Travel impacts are likely to linger throughout the day. The highest impacts will be felt up across the Baltimore area with snow will hang on through lunchtime. Much of our region will see medium impacts with residual slick spots on area roads and highways. You will want ot take it slow!

Our Cedar Point Federal Credit Union Futurecast shows that an icy mix of sleet and freezing rain remains overhead of southern Maryland through the morning commute with snow to the north. Gradual clearing skies will take hold, but left over snow and ice will be possible through early afternoon.

I would expect those impacts to remain throughout the day. While the snow and ice will wind down, we will see gusty winds and falling temperatures making for hazardous weather conditions. Below is a list of school closures and delays as reported to JB Weather this morning.
