Strong Cold Front Brings Powerful Winds Tonight

A strong cold front moves through tonight, bringing a period of gusty to potentially damaging winds.

As the rain moves in, winds will quickly shift to the northwest overnight. Gusts of 35–45 mph will be common, and 45–55 mph are possible, especially west of I-81 and across higher elevations.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the mountains. Wind Advisories cover much of the region, and these winds may lead to isolated power outages, downed tree limbs, and difficult travel, particularly on north–south roads. Windy conditions stick around for much of Friday!
