Brought to you by SouthernMaryland SportsCards

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for the Mid-Atlantic, including:

  • Charles (MD)
  • Prince George’s (MD)
  • King George (VA)

This watch is in effect until 9PM Wednesday. Primary threats this evening are:

  • Damaging wind gusts up to 70mph are possible
  • Hail up to 1.5″ is possible

SUMMARY: Initially discrete cells should develop both along a north/south-oriented front and eventually along a secondary front shifting east from the Upper Ohio Valley. Multicell clusters will dominate with time and largely pose a threat for damaging winds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm WATCH just means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. People in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
