Yesterday was quite an active weather day that featured strong winds, periods of rain, and the threat of severe weather. Thankfully, today’s weather looks to be a touch quieter. We will feel cooler today compared to yesterday, but much warmer than we were to start the week.
Highs today should max out in the upper 50s to lower 60s for many communities. Clearing skies are likely throughout the morning as we see the winds pick back up. Rain chances arrive by the afternoon as an upper-level low moves overhead. We clear out again tonight, which will lead to a quick drop in temperatures across the region.
We will see fast-moving hit-and-miss showers begin to cross the mountains and swing through the region this afternoon. None of this looks overly impressive. I would not expect today to be a washout. It looks like we would just be dealing with a few 15-minute rain showers between lunchtime and sunset. These will not likely put down much rain or lead to severe weather. It’ll just be enough to wet the ground.
One of the bigger stories for today will be the gusty winds! Yesterday we saw strong southerly winds. Today, we will see winds from the west as yesterday’s cold front passage ushered in the new flow direction. Winds could gust at times up to 30-40mph throughout the day. We should see the winds subside a bit by this evening, but until then be prepared for breezy conditions!
