Friday’s Forecast: Hot & Humid With Some PM Storms?

Brought to you by OakPoint Insurance

Yesterday was a warm one with Pax River making it up to 87° and DC-Reagan topping out at 91°. Today will look to be a few degrees warmer across the region, making the middle 90s look likely for most communities! The humidity will also be noticeable as well, making it feel very much like we’re in July!

We are off to quite the warm and humid start this morning with wake-up temps in the 70s! This will set us up for a pretty quick rise in our temperatures throughout the morning. We will likely hit the 90s around lunchtime. Dewpoints will be in the upper 60s, making it feel quite humid! Heat Indices this afternoon will likely get into the upper 90s.

There is a chance for afternoon and evening storms, as well, between 3-9pm.

Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast

This morning’s run of our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that we will likely see storms bubble up to our north and west after lunchtime, thanks to the heat and humidity. Storms look the most likely today to the northwest of I-95, where they will initially fire up.

These storms will have a hard time making it across I-95, so most of the activity should, indeed, stay to our west. But I cannot totally rule out a storm or two making it to Southern MD this evening. I’d peg the chances around 40%, but severe weather odds are low. Stay weather aware this evening, but I would not cancel any plans!
