Monday’s Forecast: Another Hot & Humid Day

Brought to you by Chesapeake’s Bounty

The dog days of summer keep on going! This weekend we saw temperatures remain in the upper 80s and lower 90s with some scattered storms bringing a few areas some rain. The heat and oppressive humidity will stick around today, but with very low chances of rain.

We are already off to a warm and humid start this morning with dewpoints in the 70s. We will keep these humid conditions around today as temps warm through the 80s this morning and into the 90s this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies will be around today, helping to push temps into the 90s.

The combination of heat and humidity will lead to heat indices that are likely to get over 100° this afternoon. Heat indices between 100-105° are likely, especially for our Bayside communities that hold on to more humidity.

Take this heat seriously! You want to ensure that you are drinking plenty of water and trying to stay cool. Be mindful of your activity outside as well as the activity of vulnerable groups and your pets. Take breaks as needed and try to wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothing.

As mentioned, today’s rain chances are rather low since we don’t have incoming weather boundaries or fronts. However, with conditions this warm/humid, you always have to stay aware of a storm chance. A few spotty storms will be possible this evening between 4-9pm, mainly west of I-95. I wouldn’t count on storms impacting us, but you will want to stay aware.

If you have outdoor plans this afternoon and evening, I would not cancel them. However, I would have an extra bottle of water with you. And, I would recommend stay weather aware as hit-and-miss storms may try to develop. Have a Plan B ready to go, and be ready to act if quickly-changing weather conditions move overhead.

Looking ahead, we will look to keep the heat and humidity around through Wednesday! A cold front will look to swing through Wednesday afternoon, which may bring some storms to the region. Behind the front, much more comfortable air will get ushered into the region! Late this week and this weekend look amazing!
