Monday’s Forecast: Cold and Windy With Flurries Possible

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

Today is going to feel a lot more like mid-February than late March! Temperatures will look to be some 20-25° below average today thanks to a strong northwesterly flow from Canada. This blast of cold air will look to stick around through tomorrow, so keep those coats out and ready!

We are off to a frigid start this morning with many spots waking up to temperatures in the 20s this morning. Temperatures will not budge much today as we look to only max out in the upper 30s to lower 40s by this afternoon. We will start the day with mainly clear skies, but that will change by this afternoon…

Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast simulated radar.

Our strong northwest flow will help to induce the formation of snow bands by this afternoon! While I do not think we’re talking about high-impact snow today, bands of flurries and snow showers will potentially look to move through the region this afternoon and evening!

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that these snow bands will be the most prominent to our northwest, but they will try to make a run at making it down to Southern MD! I do not anticipate any slick spots or road impacts, thankfully. But this would definitely be conversational snow!

In addition to the cold and snow, we will also have winds to contend with today. Winds have remained elevated throughout the night, and will likely tick up a bit this afternoon. Northwest winds could gusts upwards of 25-40mph at times! This will bring an added chill to the air, making it feel like we’re below freezing for much of the day!

Like we have said all month, March is one of those transition months where the battle between Spring and Winter takes place. For those that got emotionally attached to the abnormally warm temperatures, this last gasp of Winter will feel brutal! We should rebound somewhat by mid-week, though. Just hang in there!

  1. I always check your forecast over the hype on major networks. Any idea when the wind will lay down? This is ridiculous! White caps in my creek!
