Monday’s Forecast: Cold Start, Decent Afternoon

Brought to you by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty

After a rather a weekend that resembled temperatures much more commonly found in March, we should see improvements today! Many spots will likely see their temperatures max out in the 60s and 70s today as we begin our week-long warm-up! However, southeasterly winds will lead to a wide variety in temperatures today.

Many spots this morning are waking up to temperatures that are in the 30s! Some of our inland locations have even been allowed to drop down to near freezing. This usually cold start prompted the National Weather Service to issue Frost Advisories for this morning. The coat will definitely be needed if you’re headed out this morning!

After our unusually cold start this morning, we will see temperatures gradually recover throughout the morning. Temperatures should return to the 60s just after lunchtime this afternoon. Winds will begin to pick up from the south-southeast by mid-afternoon with gusts up to 20-30mph being possible. Clouds likely increase somewhat after sunset.

As I mentioned, today’s wide variety in temperatures will be brought to us by a southeast wind. This time of the year, water temperatures are in the 40s/50s. This leads to a cooler marine layer. The southeast wind will try to blow that marine layer inland and will affect the most vulnerable places– our coastal communities & low-lying areas.

While water temps in the 40s/50s will lead to coastal areas not being as cold in the morning, it will prohibit the amount to which they warm in the afternoon. Areas further inland & higher up can escape this influence and see the temperatures warm/cool much more easily.

We will likely see our Bayfront communities only max out in the upper 50s/lower 60s while locations along I-95 max out in the upper 60s and lower 70s! This setup this time of year can definitely produce quite a spread in temperatures, and can make forecasting quite difficult!
