Our next system will look to track through the middle of the country early this week. A track through the Great Lakes region will mean heavy snow will be confined to the Midwest. In the Mid-Atlantic, we are looking at heavy rain and gusty winds for Tuesday!
The most notable thing here is the strong southerly flow that we’ll have. This will help to pump in mild air, moisture, and gusty winds. Some spots could see 2-3″+ of new rainfall with wind gusts up to 40-55mph at times! The worst is likely Tuesday evening and Tuesday night.
Any severe weather threats should be kept around the Carolinas. However, this system does pose a significant flood threat for the entire Mid-Atlantic. Many spots have seen 5-10″+ of rain over the last 6 weeks, making the ground very rich.
