Saturday’s Forecast: Seasonal with PM Storms Possible

Brought to you by Calvert Title Company

After a week in which the weather felt much more like June than April, we have seen rather comfortable conditions set into the region. These seasonal temperatures will be on the way out though as a weak frontal boundary moves through the region, which could set off some showers and storms this evening.

First, we will see pretty decent weather this afternoon! Many spots got into the 60s/70s yesterday, and we should see a repeat performance today. Today will not be nearly as dry as yesterday was with a southwesterly flow bringing moisture northward. It will not be a bad afternoon to get out and enjoy these seasonal temperatures!

These nice temperatures will be accompanied by stiff southwesterly winds throughout the day. Winds are likely to be sustained between 5-15mph with periodic gusts up to 25-35mph. Like yesterday, this could lead to rapid-fire growth, so limit outside burning today.

Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast simulated radar for Saturday afternoon.

This evening, we will see a cold front pass through the region, which will usher in cooler weather for Easter. As it moves through, we could see it set off scattered showers and storms across the region this evening. Futurecast has been insistent on focusing this chance southeast of DC between 5-11pm.

Right now, it does not appear that these would be severe, and not everyone will see these. However, localized downpours, gusty winds, and thunder/lightning would be possible. This is something you will want to keep in mind for this evening. We see showers linger into the early morning hours of Easter, with clearing by sunrise.
