Sunday’s Forecast: Hot and Humid with a Chance of Storms

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

Welcome back to the late-July reality of heat and humidity! We have been spoiled the past few days with below-average temperatures making it feel more like mid-September. Southerly winds today will help to pump up the hot air, getting us into the middle 90s. The southerly wind flow will also bring in some humidity off the ocean. This combination will make it feel like we are close to 100°

Max afternoon feels like temperatures.

With the heat and humidity will also come the chance of afternoon and evening storms. A weak frontal boundary will be dropping southward out of PA, and will attempt to kick up some scattered storms. While we will have plenty of heat and humidity around to help support storm development, our atmospheric dynamics are not as conducive to long-lived and widespread storms. With that said, I would be on guard for potential showers/storms anytime after 3PM. 1 or 2 storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds being the main threat. Rain could linger into the evening and overnight hours as the front slowly slides southward.
