Thursday’s Forecast: Cloudy with Rain Chances

Brought to you by the Southern Maryland Spring Fling

After a few days with a decent amount of sunshine, widespread cloud cover is likely today with chances of rain returning to our area. Temperatures this afternoon should peak out in the middle to upper 60s, which is a few degrees below average for this time of the year. NE winds stick around, too.

We are off to a somewhat mild start with temps in the 50s for most. We will have a slow and gradual rise in our temperatures throughout the day. The increased cloud cover will help keep our temperatures from acting too erratic today. Showers look possible throughout the day, but especially this evening.

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast does a good job at depicting today’s rain threat. We are not likely talking about widespread rain, or heavy rain. I think the story today will be isolated to scattered rain showers that slowly grow in coverage throughout the day.

The best rain chances will exist south of DC throughout the day. It definitely would not be a bad idea to have the umbrella handy today!

Our continued northeasterly winds will continue to promote a slight onshore flow. However, the winds are gradually dying down as we head throughout the weak, which is helping out with the tidal flooding. With that said, tidal heights are still expected to be somewhat elevated today, which could cause some impacts for our immediate coastal communities.
