Thursday’s Forecast: Falls Starts with a Cold Front

Brought to you by OakPoint Insurance

The last few days have been quite warm as Summer tries its best to hold its grip on our region. Today will be the last day with warmth, though, as a cold front will move through this afternoon bringing rain and much cooler temps! This comes just in time for the first day of Fall!

We are off to a mild start this morning with temps in the 70s. This will allow temps to warm into the 80s by late-morning thanks to southerly winds. The cold front moves through between 11am-4pm bringing a rain chance. Behind the front, we see clearing skies and gusty northwest winds!

Futurecast seems to have a good handle on the overall timing of today’s rain chance. You can see a broken line of showers and storms developing out west later this morning. These showers and storms will then cross I-95, and push through Southern MD between 11am-4pm.

Most of these storms should not be severe. However, 1 or 2 storms could turn strong to severe with gusty winds and heavy rain. Stay weather aware early this afternoon! Behind the storms, we see winds pick up as cooler air rushes into the region.

All in all, we will likely have an active weather day! A warm start will give way to midday storms as a cold front moves through. Behind the front, you will notice the stark northwest winds, that may gust up to 30mph at times! Much cooler weather settles in for tonight and tomorrow.
