Thursday’s Forecast: Humid with Isolated PM Storms

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

Yesterday ended up being hot and humid with a few storms moving across the region last night. Some spots, especially in our northern areas, saw as much as 1-2″ of rain overnight. The lingering cloud cover will prevent us from being quite as warm as yesterday, but it will be just as humid!

We have a few storms out there this morning with humid conditions. We should see these showers and storms decrease in coverage this morning. The cloud cover will stick around though, keeping temps in the 80s. However, that humidity will be quite oppressive and could allow for additional isolated storms this afternoon and evening.

Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast

Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows that this morning’s activity will begin to die off over the new few hours. After a midday break, we are likely to see additional areas of storminess fire up. These storms will not be widespread though, and not everyone will get in on them. The best chance to see one of these hit-or-miss thunderstorms would be between 1-9pm.

We have no organized threat of severe weather today. The Storm Prediction Center only has us in a Level 1 “Marginal Risk” of seeing severe weather, which is quite common for this time of year. This highlights the increased chance of storms, but that every few, if at any, are expected to become severe. The highest severe weather and storm chances today will be to our south, across central Virginia.

With that said, you will want to stay weather aware this afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms, even if they’re not severe, could still bring high impacts and quickly changing weather conditions. Be on guard to potentially see some of this activity move through.
