Tuesday’s Forecast: Hot & Humid w/ PM Storms

Brought to you by OakPoint Insurance

Good morning and happy first day of school for our followers in Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties! Much likely yesterday, we have another hot and humid day on tap across the region with heat indices this afternoon getting near 100°. However, we will have a great rain chance today.

It is already humid outside, which has allowed for some patchy areas of fog to develop. We will keep this humidity around throughout the day as temperatures soar. We’ll likely be in the upper 80s by lunchtime and into the 90s this afternoon! Relief will arrive tonight with a cold front, but that front will bring a PM chance for storms.

Hi-Resolution Futurecast simulated radar

Futuercast shows that much of today should be quiet across the region. We will see a line of storms move across the mountains and into the western DC suburbs by 3-5pm. That line of storms, and the subsequent showers, will move into Southern MD this evening, likely after 5pm.

I am not expecting a severe weather outbreak today with most of these storms staying below severe limits. But one or two may turn strong to severe. Because of that, we have been placed under a Level 1 “Marginial Risk” of severe weather. The primary time to watch is 5-10pm with heavy rain and gusty winds being the primary threat.

Not everyone will see strong storms. Some spots may just see showers this evening. For that reason, flash flooding is not a major concern today. However, you will want to stay weather aware and be prepared for a wet evening!
