Tuesday’s Forecast: One More Chilly Day Before the Warm-Up

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

We’re starting the day on a very cold note, with a sharp north–south temperature contrast across the region. While southern zones are waking up in the 20s, areas near and north of Baltimore are in the teens and even single digits, thanks to fresh snowfall overnight up there. The good news: today marks the last truly chilly day before a late-week warm-up arrives.

Overnight snowfall across southern Pennsylvania helped temperatures crash quickly, leading to single-digit and low-teen readings in some spots early this morning. Farther south, where snow was limited or absent, temperatures are slightly higher but still firmly below normal. The cold start will linger through the morning hours before gradual improvement begins.

Several school delays are in effect north and east of Baltimore, where lingering snow cover from last night’s snowfall has led to icy secondary roads, untreated surfaces, and colder localized temperatures. With readings starting in the teens and even single digits, refreezing occurred quickly overnight, making the early morning commute slower and more hazardous in those areas.

Despite a frigid start, today features mostly sunny skies with a light breeze, allowing temperatures to slowly recover. Highs will range from the low 30s north to near 40 south, still below average but noticeably better than the morning lows. This cold air relaxes after today, with warmer and more seasonable temperatures building in as we head toward mid to late week.
