Wednesday’s Forecast: Another Day of the Onshore Flow…

Brought to you by Cedar Point Federal Credit Union

Another day, another dollar, and another day where we will be stuck with this stubborn onshore flow. Our weekend system continues to sit just off shore and enhance northeasterly winds across our region. This means that areas southeast of I-95, closer to the coast, are stuck with cooler temps and the continued risk of coastal flooding.

Temperatures will steadily rise throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Highs will vary a little bit today with our southeasternmost zones only topping out in the middle 60s, and northwestern zones have the chance to peak out in the 70s.

While the northeast winds should not be too bad today, that continued wind direction will lead to lingering impacts for our coastal locations. The tidal forecasts charts for St. George Island and Solomons Island both show this continuing threat. We saw both locations max out with tide heights of 3-4 feet yesterday, and we will likely see that again today.

While we will see tides slowly return to normal, shown by the gradual negative slope in the chart, the Coastal Flood alerts will continue for a few more days. Any coastal communities should be aware of this as these higher tides are likely to bring moderate impacts and could temporarily wash out roads.

We will see these onshore winds gradually subside over the coming days, which should allow for a decent warm up as we head towards the weekend. With that said though, rain chances will tick up as our zombie system from the weekend moves back onshore and brings scattered showers for this coming weekend! Pollen levels are also likely to remain high as we head into next week.
