Wednesday’s Forecast: Remaining Hot!

Brought to you by OakPoint Insurance

Yesterday we notched our 23rd 90°+ day of the year. We will look to follow up on that performance again today as temperatures should be allowed to return to the lower 90s. This comes as a new heatwave gets established across the region, with some of the hottest temps yet to come.

We are off to a warm yet somewhat comfortable start this morning with temps in the 60s. Many of us will quickly warm through the 70s and into the 80s by late morning. With mostly clear skies this afternoon, many of us will make it into the 90! The humidity will not be as oppressive today, but it will still be noticeable. This will send heat indices over 95°.

Wednesday’s Air Quality forecast from the Department of the Environment

The heat and humidity will cause some air quality issues today. Anne Arundel County and southern Baltimore County/City have been placed under a Code Orange air quality alert. This denotes that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for sensitive groups such as children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases, and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

Tomorrow will look to be our hottest day of this heat wave as temperatures will look to get into the upper 90s! Oppressive humidity tomorrow will make it feel like we’re above 100°. The hot stretch will continue into Friday and the weekend, but PM storm chances will be on the rise. Friday holds a 60% PM storm chance, and a couple could be strong to severe. Saturday and Sunday have 30-40% chances of spotty PM storms.
