Friday’s Forecast: Cold & Windy behind the snow

Brought to you by R.E. Graves Heating & Air Conditioning

We saw light bands of snow move through the region early this morning, dropping a fresh coating of snow across the area before 5am. The new snow will impact the morning commute thanks to slick and snow-covered roadways region-wide. Behind the snow, we are seeing cold, dry air rush into the region.

This fresh injection of cold air will actually prevent our temperatures from rising much at all for the rest of today. Temperatures may even fall back into the 20s as enhanced cold air gets delivered on the heels of northwesterly winds

We will see winds gusts upward of 30-45mph this afternoon, thanks to the incoming cold air and the strengthening coastal low. The winds like likely be the highest between 8am – 2pm today. These gusty winds could lead to blowing and drifting snow on area roadways, and could lead to a few power outages across the region. Any power outages are not expected to be nearly as widespread as they were on Monday.

The gusty winds will also add an additional chill to the air. Feels Like Temperatures this afternoon will likely be stuck in the lower to middle teens. The wind chill map, shown below, will look a lot more like an overnight low-temperature map! Make sure you bundle up as you head out. The sunshine may be deceptive as it will indeed be plenty cold.
