High Wind Alerts Issued Ahead of Powerful Cold Front

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

A strong cold front moving through tonight will usher in a period of very gusty winds across the region. Newly issued Wind Advisories and Wind Warnings highlight the potential for travel issues, downed trees, and scattered power outages through Monday into early Tuesday.

Strong winds will be the main story as a powerful cold front moves through the region. Wind Advisories are now in effect for much of the area with gusts up to 45–55 mph, while High Wind Warnings have been issued for the higher elevations where gusts could reach 60–70 mph.

These winds will peak Monday through Tuesday morning and may lead to travel issues, downed trees, and scattered power outages, especially in the mountains and exposed areas. Secure loose items and use extra caution if traveling.
