AM Update: Watches Expand and Warnings Issued

Brought to you by Bill Oosterink, Realtor

We are waking up this morning to some BIG changes to the weather alerts map!

These alerts continue to evolve this morning as confidence grows in a stronger coastal storm. Winter Storm Watches have been pushed west toward the Potomac and Blue Ridge, where there is now a growing threat for 5″+ of snow. This includes all of Southern MD and the DC/Baltimore metros. However, some uncertainty remains here on how far west the heavier totals extend.

The Philly metro has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning, where confidence is higher in at least half a foot of snow. We also now have Blizzard Warnings in effect along the Atlantic beaches of Delaware and New Jersey, where heavy snow and strong winds could create dangerous conditions Sunday night.

This storm has big-time boom/bust potential. Impacts could be high if things do come together the way some of our modeling is suggesting… but I do remain a bit skeptical. I’ll have a full forecast update with refined totals and timing later this morning.

Stay with JB Weather for the latest information on impacts here in Southern Maryland and across the Mid-Atlantic. You can always access my forecasts and updates here on the website, on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, and on YouTube. JB Weather is the Mid-Atlantic’s Weather Leader, and I am working around the clock to keep you ahead of any storm!
