The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince Georges, and St. Marys Counties in MD, as well as King George and Westmoreland Counties in VA. This is in effect from 5PM Thursday – 8AM Friday.

Tropical Storm Elsa will move across Southern MD Thursday night, bringing heavy rainfall to areas east of the I-95 corridor. Expected rainfall totals in southern Maryland of 2-3″, with locally higher amounts up to 5″ possible. Further west closer to the I-95 corridor could expect to see 1-2″, with locally higher amounts to 3″ possible. Our Chesapeake’s Bounty Futurecast shows this potential well

Futurecast depicted rain totals.

Moderate to heavy rainfall over a period of a few hours may cause streams and creeks to quickly rise out of their banks, potentially leading to instances of flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
