We’ll start the day with areas of patchy fog and low clouds, but those will gradually lift through the morning, leading to a mix of sunshine and fair-weather clouds this afternoon. It will stay dry for most of the region, although a brief pop-up shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out across the higher terrain west of US-15.

High temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s, with humidity beginning to increase as the first stage of this week’s heat wave gets underway. Today is the “calm before the heat,” as temperatures climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s Tuesday before dangerous heat arrives Wednesday through the July 4th holiday, when highs near 100° and heat index values between 100° and 110° become increasingly likely.

Enjoy today’s relatively comfortable weather, because much hotter conditions are just around the corner!
