NEW: Wind Advisory Issued for Thursday Night

Brought to you by Chesapeake Orthodontics

With increasing confidence of impactful winds overnight, the National Weather Service has gone ahead and issued a Wind Advisory, shown in tan, for all Southern Maryland for tonight. While we will see gusty winds this afternoon, they starkly increase after sunset tonight, prompting the need for the Advisory.

This Wind Advisory will take effect at 10pm this evening. The Advisory will expire at 6am in Charles (MD), King George (VA), and St. Mary’s (MD) Counties at 6am Friday morning. The Advisory will go on a bit longer for Anne Arundel (MD), Calvert (MD), and Prince George’s (MD) Counties– not expiring there until 10am Friday morning.

Winds will likely be sustained at 20-30mph overnight, with wind gusts as high as 40-50mph at times. This increase in winds will come as the cold front moves through early Friday morning. These gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
