Friday’s Forecast: Warm & Humid with Increasing Clouds

Brought to you by Calvert Title Company

Yesterday turned out to be a much more quiet weather day across the region with next to no rain. We should keep that quiet weather around for today, but we will see an increase in cloudiness throughout the day. We will also see a hint of summertime warmth and humidity return today.

Parts of the region, especially along the Bay, are off to a warmer start than we’ve been accustomed to over the last few days. This will set the stage for temps to warm into the 80s by lunchtime. There will be some humidity around this afternoon, but nothing like what we saw earlier this month. We should also see cloud cover gradually increase throughout the afternoon.

The culprit for our increasing cloudiness today will be a developing area of low pressure that slide off to our south and east tomorrow. This system will not be tropical, and will not be overly strong. What it will do is bring an increase in moisture to the region as it slides off the coast.

Hi-Resolution Futurecast simulated radar

Futurecast shows that this system is not likely to bring much rain, at all, to the Mid-Atlantic. However, it will be the most likely to bring that light rain to areas that are southeast of I-95. Futurecast shows that hit-and-miss showers will be possible tomorrow through the early afternoon hours.

Tomorrow does not look like an all-day washout, and rain chances will drop from 50% in southern St. Mary’s County to less than 20% as you approach I-95. While I would not cancel outdoor plans tomorrow, I would have a plan B ready to go if a shower does move overhead. Most rain amounts should be light.

All in all, we have a pretty quiet weather day on tap across our region today. We will see warmer temps with some humidity, but rain chances should remain low. Rain will be possible tomorrow between sunrise and 2/3pm as a low-pressure area moves offshore.
