Friday’s Forecast: Humid with Unsettled Weather

Brought to you by Calvert Title Company

The weather pattern this week has been very typical of July; hot and humid with daily risks of PM thunderstorms. And it only takes a brief look at my Facebook comments to know that not everyone has seen the rain this week! Well, we will continue on with these hit-and-miss rain chances today!

We are off to a humid start this morning with some patchy areas of fog. We should see temperatures steadily climb through the 70s and into the 80s this afternoon. Highs around 90° with noticeable humidity will allow for the development of isolated showers and downpours this afternoon. Rain chances look to be focused between 2-6pm.

Hi-Resolution Futurecast loop

Futurecast this week has done a pretty good job at capturing the hit-and-miss nature of the weather pattern. As our model shows, not everyone will see the rain today. However, those that do could see a quick downpour or thunderstorm during the mid-to-late afternoon hours.

I cannot stress this enough, not everyone will see the rain today. However, those that do could see a lot of it pretty quickly. This could lead to the development of isolated flash flooding, especially in areas that have seen downpours in the last few days. Most of the region has a “Marginial” to “Elevated” risk of flash flooding, which serves as a “heads up” of the potential!

Hot and humid conditions will be the tail of the next week or so, which is common for this time of year. Rain chances appear much lower for tomorrow, though. However, we will look to have higher rain chances for Sunday as a boundary works by. This could bring widespread rain throughout the day–potentially dropping up an inch or two of rain!
