Our coastal storm is now lifting north of the region after producing widespread snow overnight. While snowfall is winding down, today’s focus shifts to gusty winds, cold temperatures, and ongoing impacts across the Mid-Atlantic.
CURRENT CONDITIONS

Early this morning, snow continues across parts of Delmarva and New Jersey while areas west of the Bay are seeing steady improvement. Winds remain elevated as the departing storm strengthens offshore, helping to blow snow around and maintain reduced visibility in some spots. Roads remain slick in untreated areas, especially where overnight snow accumulated and temperatures remain in the 20s.
TODAY’S OUTLOOK

Today will be cold and breezy with lingering clouds early, followed by gradual clearing later this afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the 30s, and wind chills will make it feel even colder. Precipitation ends for most areas this morning, and melting will occur this afternoon. Refreezing remains a concern tonight.
FUTUREVIEW: STORM HEADS NORTHEAST
Model guidance shows snow continuing through parts of Delmarva and coastal New Jersey into this afternoon as the backside of the storm slowly pulls away. These areas could still pick up additional light accumulations before skies begin to clear later today. Elsewhere, conditions steadily improve west of the Bay with increasing sunshine late.
WIND THREAT CONTINUES

The biggest story today will be the wind. Gusts between 35–45 mph remain likely across much of the region, with higher gusts possible closer to the coast. These winds, combined with wet snow on trees and power lines, could lead to isolated power outages and continued travel concerns, especially through the morning and midday hours.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The widespread delays and closures across the region reflect the lingering impacts from overnight snow and this morning’s wind and cold. Even where skies improve, slick roads and blowing snow may continue to cause issues through the morning commute. Conditions will gradually improve this afternoon, but caution is still advised for travel today. Overall, this remains a high-impact morning with slow recovery through the day.
