We have seen some beneficial rain this week! Many zones south of Baltimore were about to pick up close to an inch, with a few localized spots getting over 2″. With that said, this is not nearly enough to get us out of the drought we are in. Areas southeast of DC still need about a foot of rain to erase the year-to-date deficit. However, it’s a start!

Getting widespread rain chances is a hard thing for us to do in the summer, given that our patterns are more conducive to scattered storm chances. We either need the Jet Stream to push through a large-scale system or for a tropical system to impact the area.

Next rain chances arrive Friday and Saturday with scattered showers and storms.
